Giving
to the Allendale Community Foundation is like growing a tree
~ the gifts given feed the trunk of the tree, and the fruit
produced is given away ~ the more the tree is fed, the more
fruit is produced! Help feed the tree so that more fruit can
be shared in Allendale.
Like the
Coopersville Area Community Foundation, the Allendale Area
Community Foundation is a component fund of The Grand Haven
Area Community Foundation. In 1999, several community leaders
and visionaries dreamed of starting a philanthropic vehicle
to ensure that their community's quality of life would be
enhanced and improved today, tomorrow, and for future generations.
A $10,000 grant from the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation
created the momentum.
The Trustees
of the Allendale Community Foundation continue to work on
increasing the awareness of this brand new Foundation to the
citizens of the Allendale area. Their goal has been not only
to attract donors to this charitable organization benefiting
Allendale, but also to raise $50,000 in undesignated and field
of interest gifts to receive a second $10,000 challenge grant
from the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation. This goal
was realized in December 2001.
This
newest affiliate of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation
already has seventeen funds and over $1 million in assets.
Allendale has never had a specific organization dedicated
to attracting donors and making grants to meet the community's
needs. It does now in the form of the Allendale Community
Foundation. The Foundation's Board is planting the seeds for
the future of this community. We know they will succeed!
