History
of the Coopersville Area Community Foundation
In late
1992, several individuals dreamed of starting a Foundation
to benefit the northeast Ottawa County region of Coopersville
and Polkton, Wright, Tallmadge, and Chester Townships. Instead
of attempting this feat all on their own, these individuals
called on the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation. The newly-formed
Coopersville Area Community Foundation became a component
fund of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation in 1993.
As an affiliate, the Coopersville Area Community Foundation
enjoys the advantages of reduced administrative expenses,
while having access to the professional staff, fund management,
and investment expertise of the Grand Haven Area Community
Foundation. However, the Coopersville Area Community Foundation
still retains its local identity. The Foundation's Board of
Trustees are all residents of the Coopersville area, all fundraising
is conducted in the Coopersville area, and all grants benefit
the citizens of the Coopersville area. This relatively new
Foundation that "could" is now know as the growing
Foundation that "can." As our first affiliate enters
its fifteenth year of serving Coopersville and Wright, Chester,
Tallmadge, and Polkton Townships, its assets are over $3 million!
