Undesignated
Funds
Individuals, families, and businesses giving undesignated
contributions enable the Community Foundation to respond quickly
and efficiently to the growing charitable needs of the Tri-Cities
area. Because there are no restrictions attached to these
gifts, they are used to fund many of the grant requests submitted
to the Foundation each year by local nonprofit institutions.
The Foundation encourages the growth of its undesignated assets
to meet the known needs of today and the unknown needs of
the future. Donors can establish their own named undesignated
Funds or they can give to the Greatest Needs Fund.

Field
of Interest Funds
Field of Interest Funds appeal to Foundation donors who are
interested in supporting broad charitable areas, such as the
arts, the environment, or education. Rather than recommend
specific nonprofit organizations to receive grants from their
funds, Field of Interest Fund donors rely on the Foundation's
Trustees and staff to determine the best and most appropriate
use of their Funds' grantmaking dollars. This unique approach
gives the Foundation flexibility and creativity to make grants
that address our area's always-changing needs and opportunities

Donor
Advised Funds
Many donors maintain an active interest in the Community Foundation's
activities by participating in the grantmaking process through
their donor advised Funds. By serving as "advisors"
to the Foundation's Board of Trustees, these Fund donors are
able to share their charitable insights and choices for grant
distributions from their Funds benefiting a multitude of charitable
endeavors. |

Designated
Funds
Designated Funds are established by donors who want specific
charitable organizations to receive grants from their funds.
These grants may include helping an organization with its
annual operating costs and special projects or assisting the
organization to increase its scope and efficiency. Should
the organization cease to exist, the foundation's Board of
Trustees will select an alternative recipient to retain the
original spirit and intent of the donor's gift. Many area
nonprofit agencies have placed their endowment funds with
the community foundation to protect their charitable assets
for the future.

Scholarship
Funds
Being able to directly impact the education and careers of deserving
area students appeals to foundation donors and is a primary
reason why the foundation's scholarship program continues to
grow each year. Many scholarship funds are established in memory
of loved ones as a perpetual way to ensure a better future for
our area's young people.
