2008 Grant Deadlines
January 4, 2008
March 14, 2008- Youth Grants Only
July 3, 2008
October 10, 2008

Please provide 12 copies of the complete grant application on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. Copies may be double-sided to economize.

When determining the best way to spend limited resources on unlimited funding requests, the foundation's Trustees carefully evaluate each request, based on its relevant need and potential impact on the community, by considering the following:

  1. Does the request have the potential to positively impact a large number of people in the foundation's service area of northwest Ottawa County, Michigan?
  2. Is the grantseeker using a unique approach to meet a specific need?
  3. How well will the grantseeker work with, or complement, other organizations to avoid duplication of services?
  4. What is the extent of local volunteer support/involvement in this project?
  5. Who are the directors or trustees of the grantseeking organization and are they committed to the project?
  6. Does the requesting organization display sound fiscal responsibility and management?
  7. Can a foundation challenge grant or matching grant make the project possible?
  8. Does the grantseeker indicate an ability to obtain additional funding necessary to implement the project? Can the grantseeker continue to provide funding after the foundation's grant has expired?
  9. How well has the grantseeker researched the grantmaking priorities of the Grand Haven Community Foundation?

For good. For ever.
