The
Youth Committee was proud to support Grand Haven Area Public
School's "The Only Arms You'll Ever Need" Campaign
which received both state and national recognition.
New
grants for the school year 20010-11 (September 1, 2010-June
30, 2011) During
the 2010-11 school year the Youth Advisory Committee is continuing
to support programs for youth in the Tri-Cities. Listed below
are some of the new grants awarded from the Youth Fund:

- Families
in Crisis Initiative
$790 to Love INC to provide motel vouchers for homeless
families
$774 to Love INC to provide 600 pounds of fresh meat
(one month supply)
$850 to Love, INC for one Feeding America Food Truck
$2,000 to Love INC to support the Free Health Clinic
for one month
$500 to support an eight-week support group for families
at Tri-Cities Ministries Counseling Services
$2,000 to provide the monthly heating bill for two
transitional housing units for four months at The People
Center
$1,000 to fill the food pantry at The People Center
$1,000 to fill the food pantry at The Salvation
Army
$1,000 to provide musical equipment for the Salvation
Army's Youth Music Group
$1,000 to provide transit passes for people in the
Salvation Army's Transitional Housing Program
$960 to Center for Women in Transition to provide
eight scholarships for the Girls on the Run/Girls on Track
program
$100 to Center for Women in Transition to provide
safety planning for four families
$450 to Lakeshore Pregnancy Center for diapers and/or
emergency infant needs
$1,000 to purchase fleece to make hand-tied blankets
for The People Center

by the city marina, for residents and to encourage visitors
to downtown and the waterfront.

Islands Audubon Society $1096 for a three year subscription
to Audubon Adventures for GHAPS elementary schools.

Program

the Music Foundation, Inc $4,000 Winter Wonderjam Music
Experience giving all children an opportunity to learn about
and play various instruments.

$5,000, to provide seed money to establish a clothing
boutique for at-risk teens in foster care.
- Every Woman's
Place $5000 to establish a Host Home and Homeless Youth
Support program in the Tri-Cities area.

a Message for Kids $2,000 to support and educational
and motivational music tour in the Tri-Cities.

third year funding for the Lakeshore Honors Basketball team.

Academy of Arts and Academics $931 Go
Green Resuable Classroom Party Kits.

Camp Horizon a summer program for special needs students
to support transition from supportive living to independent
living.

of Spring Lake $4,000 each year for two years to fund
the Rain Garden Project.
- Children's
Advocacy Center $5000 to help produce a video to focus
on online safety for youth.
