President Search

The Board of Trustees understands that leadership transitions need to be handled with great care. Because of our generous donors and caring community, we are well positioned for success now and into the future. Furthermore, the talented team at the Foundation, solid financial position, and recent strategic visioning that has culminated into a comprehensive 3-5 year plan, puts the Foundation on solid footing for continued community impact.

The GHACF Executive Search Committee would like to share with the broader community the following update regarding the recruiting process for our new President:
  • 30 applicants expressed interest serving in the president role. 47% were from Michigan, and 53% were from out of state, reflecting interest in serving our community from coast-to-coast.
  • 12 community leaders and influencers from the private, public, and social-sectors were invited this summer to share their ideas and opinions regarding the desired leadership attributes and experiences that would reflect an effective new President. The Committee wishes to express their sincere appreciation to those who took the time to offer their perspectives.
  • Using the new President position description as a guide, the Committee narrowed the applicant pool to 6 “Early Candidates,” who were each interviewed in mid-August by video screen by our executive search partner, VENTURE3Philanthropy.
  • The Committee met again on August 20 and selected 3 “Candidates,” who have now accepted our invitations to be interviewed on September 4 by the Committee.

The Executive Search Committee is very pleased with the strength of the applicant and candidate pools, and is confident that their executive search efforts remain on the intended process path to produce a new President-elect by Autumn.

GHACF remains grateful for the legacy of several Presidents that has brought the Foundation to this exciting moment in its history. The process remains on the critical path to result in an excellent leader who will continue to enhance this valuable organizational mission.
