This past Thursday, we welcomed to new members to the Board of Trustees: Pat VerDuin and Cindy Anderson.

Pat VerDuin is a lifelong resident of West Michigan who says “all the memories that impacted me personally and professionally started here in Grand Haven.” She worked in county government for 35 years before founding Mobius Coaching, an executive coaching business, and says her life’s work has been about “children, community, and collaboration.”

While most of Pat’s career has been in criminal justice and community engagement, for the last ten years she has engaged in workforce development. She’s currently a board member on the MiWorks Workforce Development Board, Children’s Advocacy Center, and the Ottawa County Planning Commission. Pat says, “I love being able to connect and create synergy among places, spaces and people for good. Tapping into the full potential in community and in individuals inspires me.”

Cindy Anderson spent her career as a speech pathologist, getting her start at Hackley Hospital before landing the job of her dreams as a Speech and Language Pathologist at Grand Haven Area Public Schools. “It was exciting to watch my students grow and go on to do important work in their lives,” she says.

Cindy has served on the Scholarship Committee of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation, the boards of Kiddie Carousel, Bluebird Cancer Retreats, C3, Healing Justice, and is currently board chair of Humanity for Prisoners. She’s also been a Big Sister, a Kids Hope Mentor, and a tutor in Muskegon Heights Schools. Cindy and her husband have been committed to the success of The People Center and the Little Red House since their beginnings, and in 2010, she helped establish Tri-Cities Women Who Care (formerly called 100 (or more) Women Who Care) which has raised nearly $900,000 for nonprofits in our community. “Giving back to our community and helping our neighbors is important to us,” Cindy says. “I’m glad this is our community and I’m honored to help make it even better.”

Please join us in welcoming Pat and Cindy to the Board!
